Let the stress of the week melt away, as the brand new single "Man Overboard" by Brooklyn indie rock/pop outfit LadyChild washes over you, and takes your worries out to sea. Powerful and immersive vocals of frontwoman Genevieve Faivre demand attention, while a medley of intricate yet tasteful instrumentation will seal the deal. Lemonade Magazine, who premiered the track earlier this week, called it a "beautiful meshing of genres" for a result that is "fresh and timeless."
Coming as the second single off their upcoming EP, Faivre explains why "Man Overboard" was a natural choice to highlight. "It incorporates other styles and sounds found throughout the other songs on the EP, while still maintaining a similar rock vibe heard in the first single, "Out of Breath". It was also one of the more popular songs on the EP when I would play it for friends and family.”
Bringing together a wide range of musical influences, LadyChild's sound may be broadly categorized as indie rock, pop, and singer-songwriter, but clear strokes of soul, jazz and grunge quickly arise on a deeper listen. Recorded at Mighty Toad Studio with Craig Dreyer, and produced by Michael Abiuso at Behind the Curtains Media, Favire is joined on "Man Overboard" by her brother, Andre Faivre on guitar, Mathew Compo on bass, Colin Taylor on drums and violin by Tory Anne Daines, which adds a beautiful extra layer and depth to the track.
LadyChild's full EP (self-titled) is due out March 9; "Man Overboard" is available for stream and purchase now on Bandcamp. LadyChild will celebrate with a early EP release celebration show on Friday, March 2 at The Well in Brooklyn, NY.
